SC panel holds consultations with 12 farmer unions from 8 states | India Information – Occasions of India

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court docket-appointed committee on Friday held consultations with 12 farmer unions and peasants from eight states, together with West Bengal, on the controversial farm legal guidelines enacted by the Centre lately.
That is the seventh assembly held by the panel up to now. The three-member committee is holding consultations with stakeholders, each on-line and in particular person.
In a press release, the committee mentioned it held its interactions by video convention with farmers, farmer unions and farmer producer organisations (FPOs).
Twelve farm unions and farmers from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal participated within the detailed deliberations with the committee members, it mentioned.
“All of the collaborating farmer unions, FPOs and farmers gave their detailed views and ideas on the three farm legal guidelines,” the committee added.
On January 12, the apex court had stayed the implementation of the three contentious farm legal guidelines for 2 months and requested the committee to submit a report inside two months after consulting the stakeholders.
1000’s of farmers, particularly from Punjab, Haryana and components of Uttar Pradesh, have been tenting at Delhi’s borders for over two months searching for repeal of the brand new legislations, launched by the Centre final 12 months, saying they’re pro-corporate and might weaken the mandi system.
The 11 rounds of talks between the Centre and 41 protesting farmer unions have up to now remained deadlocked, although the ruling dispensation has provided concessions, together with suspension of the legislations for 18 months, which the unions have rejected.
