NEW DELHI: The railways suffered Rs 1,462 crore loss by way of freight revenue throughout this 12 months attributable to varied agitations and strikes together with dharnas at platforms close to railway tracks, the federal government informed Rajya Sabha.

“For practically 22 months, India has not had a single passenger killed attributable to prepare accidents,” he stated.
The minister added that within the new restructured Railway Board, a chosen director-general of security has been appointed for the primary time.
In response to a different query, the ministry stated 592 railway staff have misplaced their lives attributable to Covid-19. It stated no worker has been despatched on depart or not acquired wage since March 2020 because of the pandemic.
