Mamata Banerjee withheld info while filing nomination: Suvendu Adhikari | India News – Times of India

KOLKATA: BJP’s Nandigram candidate Suvendu Adhikari alleged on Monday that Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee “withheld information about six cases against her” while filing her nomination affidavit.
BJP seniors visited the state chief electoral officer’s headquarters later in the evening to lodge a complaint though, by then, the Nandigram returning officer had already scrutinised and approved Mamata’s candidature.
News came in later that at least one of the cases mentioned by BJP — a CBI case in Asansol — had to do with “a different Mamata Banerjee and not the Bengal CM”, prompting Trinamool se niors to describe the “goofup as a case of Google haste by a party that typically depends on search engines and Artificial Intelligence and lies” and the BJP complaint as “signs of desperation of a party and a candidate scared of imminent defeat”.
BJP complaint mentioned five police cases lodged against Mamata in August 2018 in Assam — all during the anti-NRC stir — and the one CBI case. “There are six cases against her that she has not mentioned in her (nomination) affidavit. Let us see what the EC says, we have faith in the law of the land,” Adhikari said
