Former US president Donald Trump was acquitted by the Senate on Saturday of inciting the lethal January 6 assault on the US Capitol.
A two-thirds majority of the 100 senators was wanted at Trump’s impeachment trial for conviction, however it fell brief in a 57-43 vote.
Seven Republicans joined Democrats in voting to convict.
